MOUNTAINS OR BEACHES?!

I’ve lived in this city pretty much my whole life now, and with all the scenic destinations out there, it wouldn’t be fair not to visit them. This read is going to be quite a journey folks, so make some popcorn, get a soda, and gear up to live vicariously through my travels!

1 Mahabalipuram [2021]🏖️

Located in Tamil Nadu, this town has the most beautiful coastline. The road leading to the resort we were due at, Radisson Blu Temple Bay, was breathtaking. Mesmerizing ocean with a hint of blue, did not leave our side till we arrived at the resort. One of the prominent attractions was the temple that was located right in the middle of the sea and was half-submerged by the waves. Certainly can’t have a write-up without the mention of food! This was quite a memorable experience for me because I tasted crab and pork meat for the first time on this trip!

2 Yercaud [2017] 🏔️

Yercaud is a hill station town in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. I went there in October. The resort, Grand Palace, had an infinity pool overlooking a valley of alluring flora. Sitting on the edge of the pool and reading a novel amidst the mountains was like a dream. The staff at the resort had a DJ set up just for my family and we danced our hearts out in the middle of the clouds. Undoubtedly, one of the best adventures of my life.

3 Pondicherry [2020] 🏖️

If it isn’t already evident, I’m obsessed with beaches. My response to the generic ice-breaker question people ask each other on first dates, ‘Mountains or Beaches’, will be BEACHES. Pondicherry is one of the oldest French towns and c’est très incroyable. We rented a scooter, drove it around town, and took rest breaks on the rock beach. The selection of restaurants along the coastline of Rock Beach is exceptional. But of course, we ended up at an Indian restaurant for some good old butter chicken!

4 Nandi Hills [2018]🏔️

This list would be imperfect without the mention of the most popular spots in Bangalore. The best resort at the base of the mountain is called Aura Foothills, and that’s where we set up camp. We had the whole place to ourselves and we definitely made the most of it. Who needs more when there’s karaoke, food, and dancing in the middle of the mountains? PS: The road leading to the resort was quite a narrow one, with a drop on both sides!

5 Sula Vineyards [2017]🍷

Not exactly in or even around Bangalore, this location deserves a spot in this article. It is a winery and vineyard located in Nasik. The way this place has been built is an amazement in itself. The oak barrels have a musty wine aroma to be lost in. The winery has a breathtaking view of the vineyards and I literally cycled through them. The prestigious Sula Vineyards are so charming, that I could travel there in my sleep! And oh boy, the wine is to die for!
