ACCEPTANCE IS CONTAGIOUS.

Evolution must ensue from the mind, not only the body.

The LGBTQ+ is the umbrella term that stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and others. This despondent handful of people live a very sedentary life in a country like ours. A truly inclusive society remains a distant dream. The LGBTQ+ gang shouldnā€™t be named separately. There shouldnā€™t be different terms like ā€˜communityā€™ for them. They are people. I shouldnā€™t have to write down this article to educate the boomers. But, letā€™s face it. Here we are.

Honestly, India has been struggling to bridge the gap of gender equality since time immemorial. It has succeeded to quite an extent, but there are still some persistent argumentative and controversial concerns. Indians pretend to cover their ears or change the topic about sex itself, let alone if someone brings up the topic of homosexuality, theyā€™ll probably shoot their heads off.

We live in a society where peopleā€™s opinions about things that donā€™t concern them are louder than a sonic boom. As a result, being closeted remains the best option for such people. They donā€™tā€™ outā€™ themselves in fear of facing discrimination and backlash. Bullying is so old school. Labels like meetha, chakka, gora are just ethically disgusting, and clearly portray the fallacious nature of peopleā€™s mindsets.

In essence, just because the involvement of a man and a woman is the most common scenario, doesnā€™t make it the norm. Only because of the sole reason that someoneā€™s sexual preference differs from the other, they canā€™t be considered evils. Humanity has an upper hand over religion. People need to realize this before harmony and peace become an obscure desire.
